Get Involved!
Become a Wildlife Spotter!
Although we continue to work with undergraduate and post graduate students on a range of species surveys, we can no longer afford to commission a professional monitoring programme so we're encouraging everyone to get involved and contribute to our knowledge base! We'd like to know what you see when you're out and about on the Downs, whether it's just one-off sightings or regular recording.
To help you identify the plants and animals you see, the Field Studies Council produce an inexpensive collection of full colour laminated fold-out charts, which we think are great value.
Alternatively, you can download a whole range of very simple spotting sheets from Wildlife Watch - literally hundreds to choose from!

Or if you have a smartphone there are lots of ID apps to choose from.

So whether it's birds or butterflies, lichens or ladybirds, grab your camera, get your boots on, get out on the Downs and see what you can find! And don't forget to let us know what you see.
