About the event

Join us on this guided summer walk and picnic with farm hosts Sarah and Gary who have kindly agreed to let us in behind the scenes to discover what nature has been up to.

We've been told that the herbal ley should be in flower so we should see butterflies and possibly orchids.

The flower rich margins were planted last autumn so are not established but we can discuss the process that the farm hosts went through and hopefully the 2 year fallow should be in flower inbetween all the blackgrass that's self sown.

There will be store cattle or ewes and lambs in the new arable reversion to grassland field.

The low input barley should be growing well and another field will have a mixture of oats and barley for the birds this winter coming.

This walk is suitable for all who can manage a walk of approximatly 1/1.5 miles on uneven terrain.

Friendly dogs on short leads and children welcome (though the adults will determine the pace and speed of the walk).

Bring your own picnic and chairs/rugs.

Please wear long trousers and sturdy footwear.

This is a free event.  Full details of location will be given prior to the event.

The Space for Nature Events and Outreach Programme is partly funded by Farming in Protected Landscapes, a Defra grant scheme administered by the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
