Farmland bird walk
Winter birds on the Downs
Time & Location
23 Nov 2019, 13:30 – 15:30
Avebury Trusloe
About the event
We’re raising funds to purchase a thermal imaging camera to enable us to understand more about how wildlife uses our farmland during the hours of darkness. In the first of a series of events, join local ornithologist Matt Prior and the Marlborough Downs farmers for a country ramble to see and learn about the myriad of farmland birds that spend the winter as our guests, and find out how our farmers work hard to make them welcome. We hope to see several important species such as linnet, yellowhammer, corn bunting and tree sparrow, as well as red kites and other birds of prey, and animals like deer and hares. All in all, an abundance of wildlife!
There will be a charge of £20 per person for this event, all funds raised going towards the purchase of a thermal imaging camera. Children (under 12) and dogs on leads welcome at no extra charge :)
